Former Sky commentator Bryn Law has criticised Sky Sports’ coverage of Liverpool’s victory against Brentford on Sunday.

Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield in Arne Slot’s first home game in charge, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scoring.

Law suggested that Sky’s coverage of the Liverpool game was far too focused on the home club and pointed out that Brentford weren’t represented among the punditry team.

Law wrote on X: ‘Sky’s coverage of this Liverpool v Brentford game is basically LFCTV – ex players as co-comm & studio guest, LFC associated presenter.

‘Could they not have at least found an ex-Brentford player as a 2nd studio guest? The pretence of broadcaster’s neutrality a thing of the past?’

Kelly Cates, Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher all have strong Liverpool connections, with Izzy Christiansen also part of the punditry team

Law, who previously worked for Sky, is currently a commentator for Leeds United’s LUTV.

Jamie Carragher, who spent his entire career at Liverpool and made over 700 appearances for the club, was the co-commentator alongside Peter Drury.

Another ex-Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp appeared as a studio guest, while Kelly Cates, the daughter of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, was the presenter.

The other studio guest was ex-Everton and Manchester City Women player Izzy Christiansen, with Brentford not represented at all.

There was much focus on Liverpool even prior to the first game of Super Sunday in which Bournemouth faced Newcastle.

The pundits were seen in the Liverpool dressing room discussing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who have all entered the final year of their contracts with the club.

Carragher’s interview with the new Liverpool manager Slot was also shown.
