An ex-Met Police officer is set to appear in court accused of a sex offence on a 16-year-old girl he met during his police duties, the police watchdog said.

Ex-PC Che Homersham, 36, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 30 to face a charge of misconduct in public office over an alleged “inappropriate” relationship, said the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Homersham, 36, who was attached to the Met unit covering Barnet, Brent, Harrow, is alleged to have formed the “inappropriate” relationship between December 2018 and January 2019. He is said to have met the girl “during the course of his duties.”

An investigation began in June 2023 after the IOPC received a mandatory conduct referral from Scotland Yard about PC Homersham.

The probe was completed in May last year, with the Crown Prosecution Service then deciding to charge the former officer.

The investigation was led by the Met’s Anti-Corruption Unit, said an IOPC spokesperson.

According to the CPS website, the offence carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The charge is brought in cases where there is alleged “serious wilful abuse or neglect of the power or responsibilities of the public office held.”
