Legendary English cricketer Sir James Anderson is set to receive a knighthood on Tuesday at Windsor Castle.

The fast bowler, 43, will be knighted by Princess Anne after he was recognised by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is known as a big cricket fan.

The Lancashire player holds the record for the most Test wickets taken for England, with 704.

He ranks third all-time, with only Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan and the late Australian star Shane Warne, who took 800 and 708 wickets respectively.

He made the last of his 188 Test appearances in 2023 against the West Indies at Lord’s, but he continues to play domestically.

An injury cut his season short, but he played six Rothesay County Championship matches during the 2025 season before getting hurt.

He is said to be in talks with his childhood club, Lancashire, to play in the 2026 season, and past his 44th birthday.

Anderson made his top-flight debut for Lancashire and his one-day international debut for England in 2002.

He then made his full test debut for England in 2003.

Anderson is among a variety of personalities to be honoured for their services.

Graham Gouldman, the frontman of rock band 10cc, is another to be celebrated at Windsor Castle.

Graham Gouldman will also receive an MBE from the Princess Royal

The award-winning songwriter and musician was made an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to music.

Gouldman was one of the founding members of 10cc, formed in 1972, and he co-wrote hits such as Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love, The Things We Do For Love, and Dreadlock Holiday.

He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in America, joining the likes of Sir Noel Coward, Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Sir Elton John.

The band 10cc sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, of which Gouldman was the co-lead singer and bass guitarist.

He is the only remaining founding member of the band that was formed over 50 years ago and continues to tour across the world.

The BBC’s chief economics correspondent, Dharshini David, will also be receiving an OBE for services to economics.

She was also named in the King’s New Year Honours List.
