Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has resolved a tragic mystery in missing teenager April Windsor’s storyline after it was revealed that the teenager is not responsible for the death of another young woman.

Fans of the soap will remember episodes from last week in which Jacob Gallagher, during his first shift as a medical student, mistakenly identified a stabbing victim as April after a girl was admitted to hospital carrying April’s purse.

After jumping to conclusions without seeing the victims face, Jacob phoned Marlon Dingle to let him know his daughter had been injured.

When Marlon and his wife Rhona Goskirk arrived at the hospital they were informed that April had passed away from the wounds.

Upon being asked to identify the body, Marlon and Rhona soon realised the young girl in question wasn’t their daughter and Jacob faced serious consequences for getting it wrong.

The question still remained about how the stabbing victim had ended up with April’s purse, leading Marlon to question if his daughter was responsible for the murder.

Tonight’s (January 6) ITVX episode quickly shut down Marlon’s theory, resolving the tragic mystery when the true culprit was arrested.

Early in the episode, Marlon revealed that the police had arrested someone else in relation to the crime ruling April out as the culprit.

“The police,” he said to Rhona and her mum. “They’ve arrested some guy for stabbing that poor girl. I mean it’s something right, it means that whatever happened, April didn’t do it.”

While the news that April was not responsible for the death of the young girl left Marlon relieved, the family found little comfort as April is still missing and the family have little to no clues.

Elsewhere in the episode, the coroner called Dawn, saying there were no suspicious circumstances in her dad Will’s death. Later Dawn found a memory stick with a video of her dad in which he told her that Kim was responsible for his death.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
