Elon Musk could be set to “revolutionise British politics” if he follows through with potential donations to Reform UK, according to freelance journalist Dominic Green.

Speaking on GBN America, Green said that significant financial backing from the tech billionaire would drive UK politics “much closer to the American-style model”.

“Labour’s problem is how to stop him doing it without also making it illegal to get millions of pounds from the unions, who of course are their main backers,” Green said.

The comments come amid speculation that Musk could make contributions to Nigel Farage’s Reform party after the pair met at Donald Trump’s Florida mansion.

Musk’s latest criticism of Britain came in response to calls for Tesla to open a factory in Scotland.

“Very few companies will be willing to invest in the UK with the current administration,” the world’s richest man wrote on X.

The comment prompted a swift response from Starmer’s spokesperson, who highlighted £63bn of traditional investment since the election.

Last month, Musk claimed Britain was going “full Stalin” under Labour amid inheritance tax concerns.

The tech billionaire, who has been appointed by president-elect Trump to tackle government waste in the US, has repeatedly accused Starmer’s government of creating a “police state”.

The tensions between Musk and Starmer first emerged during last summer’s riots, when the tech mogul suggested “civil war is inevitable” in Britain.

Musk popularised the hashtag #TwoTierKeir, suggesting differential treatment by law enforcement towards different groups under Starmer’s leadership.

The conflict escalated when Musk questioned whether Britain was becoming “the Soviet Union” after arrests were made over social media posts.

One high-profile case involved a 53-year-old carer who received a prison sentence for inflammatory Facebook comments.

The billionaire was notably absent from the government’s October investment summit, following his vocal criticism of Labour.

Green also delivered stark comments about Musk’s focus on grooming gangs in British politics.

“It’s the most important story, in my understanding, in British politics in our lifetimes,” he told GB News.

The journalist suggested the issue would have “a far greater impact in the long term than Brexit”.

Green criticised both major parties and the media for their handling of grooming gangs, saying they “thought they could kick it to one side”.

“The fact Elon Musk has forced this back to public attention and is essentially looking as though he will hold the government and indeed the entire bureaucracy to account is astonishing,” he added.
