Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly left the US after Donald Trump’s election victory.
The former talk show host is said to have become “very disillusioned” and moved to her home in the Cotswolds in the south-west of England.
DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi, the “Arrested Development” star, decided to “get the hell out” following Mr Trump’s win over Kamala Harris, sources told TMZ.
The couple, who reportedly purchased the home before the presidential election, are said to be planning to sell their California home in the exclusive neighbourhood of Montecito.
It is unclear when DeGeneres bought the British property, but she has already embedded herself in the celebrity social set who have made their home in the well-heeled area.
She has been spotted at a series of exclusive Cotswolds parties.
In November 2023, she joined Luther actor Idris Elba in a DJ booth at a party at the 17th-century stately home in North Oxfordshire, The Times reported.
Visit to Clarkson’s pub
This week, DeGeneres visited the Farmers Dog pub belonging to the former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, which is also located in the Cotswolds.
A video posted by Clarkson’s girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, on Instagram, showed her partying with de Rossi and singer James Blunt.
DeGeneres had endorsed Ms Harris for the presidency in August, just weeks after the vice-president replaced Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket to take on Mr Trump.
“There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come! I can’t wait for [Kamala Harris] to be our next president,” she said.
In November, DeGeneres urged women to “vote like our lives depend on it”, adding: “Because they do.”
She has been a frequent critic of the president-elect, saying in 2017 that he was “against everything that I stand for”.
It comes as Eva Longoria, the “Desperate Housewives” actress, announced that she would leave the US following Mr Trump’s election win.
She is splitting her time between Spain, where she is a citizen, and Mexico, where her husband José Bastón is from, claiming that Mr Trump’s return to the White House will make the US a “scary place”.
DeGeneres was contacted for comment.
