A new electric car has helped Rolls-Royce achieve its best ever year of sales with more than 6,000 vehicles sold for the British brand.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced that it sold more cars than ever before in the marque’s 119-year history with 6,032 models delivered around the world.

The brand is celebrated around the world, with strong sales last year in North America and China and further growth in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Strong sales and demand for Rolls-Royce vehicles were supported by the inclusion of the Spectre electric car, with customers beginning to receive the EVs at the end of 2023.

The Goodwood-based brand first unveiled the all-electric supercar in October 2022 and has “attracted enormous interest”.

Car enthusiasts from around the world have supported the introduction of the EV as the brand announced that orders extended into 2025.

The Spectre has an impressive 323-mile range (520km), with the luxury SUV living up to its prestige with a starting price of around £330,000.

Chris Brownridge, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “2023 was another extraordinary year for Rolls-Royce, with strong sales performances in all regions and across the full product portfolio.

“It’s especially encouraging to see the enormous interest in and demand for Spectre, supporting the decision to adopt a bold, ‘all-electric’ strategy for future model development and production.

“The record level of Bespoke commissions, both by volume and value, also underlines our position within the luxury sector, offering our clients opportunities for self-expression and personalisation they cannot find anywhere else.”

In a move that could rile some feathers, Rolls-Royce took the step to redesign the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy sculpture to give it a “more realistic look”.

The slick Spectre EV also boasts an “unprecedented drag coefficient”, making the model Rolls-Royce’s most aerodynamic motor car ever.

Rolls-Royce has pledged to ensure that its entire product portfolio will be fully electric by the end of the decade.

Chris Brownridge praised the brand, saying it was moving to an electric future and would continue to have strong annual performances.

He said: “As incoming CEO, I’m in the extremely fortunate position of taking over responsibility for a business in robust good health, with strong foundations and a clear strategy for growth and development, formidable technical capabilities and a focused, dedicated team.

“I’m looking forward to working with the entire Rolls-Royce team to maintain this momentum and take this great company forward with confidence and conviction.”
