Eating a ‘delicious’ food for breakfast can help with fast weight loss

The doctor and weight loss expert advocates for a moderately low-carb, Mediterranean-style diet. For breakfast, he recommends eating eggs which he describes as a “delicious” option.

Dr Michael Mosley’s diet plan, The Fast 800, comprises three different approaches. The Very Fast 800 is an 800-calorie a day diet slimmers can do for “rapid weight loss” and a “kick-start to improve metabolic health until a healthy weight is achieved” – for up to 12 weeks.

The New 5:2 involves following a moderately low-carb, Mediterranean-style diet five days of the week and an 800-calorie fast the other two days. The Way of Life is about enjoying the nutritionally-balanced, Mediterranean-style diet for life.

Whatever path you’re following, there are certain foods that should be eaten – and others to avoid.

On his official website The Fast 800, Dr Mosley told slimmers to stock up on eggs.

He said: “Boiled, poached, scrambled or as an omelette – they’ll keep you fuller for longer compared to cereal or toast.”

And dieters don’t need to eat these eggs plain. There are plenty of healthy ways to spruce them up.

Dr Mosley advised: “Delicious with greens and parmesan or smoked salmon and a sprinkle of chilli.”

Dr Mosley is a huge fan of incorporating healthy fats and oils into your diet.

Oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel and tuna, make great additions to any egg-based breakfast.

Avocado is another great source of healthy fats that keep people feeling “fuller and satiated” throughout the day.

Filling up on a nutritious breakfast is a great way to prevent getting peckish throughout the day and reaching for snacks.

Where many people go wrong on their weight loss journey is reaching for processed or ultra-processed goodies throughout the day.

Dr Mosley urges slimmers to “avoid snacking” because it spikes insulin levels and can make a person feel hungrier.

However, if you’re feeling peckish during the day and have to snack on something between meals, there are three go-tos which will aid fast weight loss.

According to the weight loss expert, there’s one breakfast food that should usually be avoided.

He explained that breakfast cereals are “often laden with sugar” – go for rolled oats (not instant) instead for a more fibrous option.
