More Cold Weather Payments have been triggered in the UK, with some people now due to get £50 so far this winter.

There has been a second trigger in one area, with two payments now due in certain postcodes in Cumbria.

The weather station used to determine the temperature in this area is Shap.

GB News has verified there have been two triggers in the following postcodes this winter: CA10, CA11, CA12, CA16, CA17, LA8, LA9, LA10, LA21, LA22, LA23

The DWP has shared the full list of postcodes forecast Cold Weather Payment triggers so far this winter with GB News.

The postcodes in England and Wales where triggers have been forecast, in date order, so far are:

Eligible people will get a Cold Weather Payment if the average temperature in their local area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days.

They will get £25 for each seven-day period of very cold weather.

The payments are made automatically, so people shouldn’t need to claim.

It should be paid within 14 working days after each period of very cold weather in the affected area.

It is possible to check to see if a Cold Weather Payment is due online, via the DWP’s Cold Weather Payment postcode checker.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme has ended in Scotland, so residents in Scotland no longer qualify for Cold Weather Payments.

People living in Scotland may instead qualify for the £50 annual Winter Heating Payment instead.

Additional eligibility rules apply, but a person may get Cold Weather Payments if they’re getting:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Universal Credit
  • Support for Mortgage Interest.
