Donald Trump has revealed a bizarre solution to de-escalating US tensions with Kim Jong-un – saying that he used to tell the North Korean leader that they should attend a baseball game together.
Trump, in his own words, ‘got along’ with Jong-un, as the pair exchanged letters and the former president became the first sitting president to visit North Korea.
And the former president said at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan that he would encourage the nuclear weapons hoarder to ‘relax’ and ‘chill’ with the help of some live sports.
‘I used to tell him, ‘Why don’t you do something else?’ All he wants to do is buy nuclear weapons and make them,” Trump started.
I said, ‘Just relax, chill. You got enough, you got so much nuclear weapons… let’s go to a baseball game, I’ll show you what a baseball – we’ll go watch the Yankees. Or come watch Michigan at its home opener, how about that.”

And he apparently suggested that the North Korean leader should ‘relax’ by seeing a Yankees game
That final remark drew a large cheer from the crowd, who showed their support for the reigning college football champions.
Yankees fans, however, were a bit perplexed by Trump’s remarks given the team’s wayward play of late.
The team went just 14-13 last month and many fans pointed out that watching the Bronx Bombers wouldn’t be so relaxing for Jong-un.
‘Our closer’s nickname is literally Cardiac Clay,’ one wrote. ‘A yankee game is not for the faint hearted.’
Another said, ‘Can’t stress this enough, but watching the New York Yankees at this time is not an effective way to calm anyone down, including a nuclear weapon carrying dictator.

Jong-un has shown a penchant for at least one sport before, as he is known to have a fascination with basketball and struck up a friendship with Bulls legend Dennis Rodman.
Last year, it was reported that Trump was mulling the idea of cutting a deal with North Korean Kim Jong-un that would allow him to keep some nuclear weapons if he wins a second term next year.
However, Trump himself dismissed the idea of lifting some sanctions as ‘fake news.’
Kim is believed to be accelerating his nuclear and missile program.
He and Trump famously ‘fell in love’ during their meetings, the ex-president said, and a book later claimed that they kept in touch even after Trump left office.
