Denmark’s new Queen Mary turned to her trusted wedding designer to help create today’s beautiful accession gown.
The new Danish Queen, 51, wore a beautiful white dress today which was designed by Soeren Le Schmidt and sewn by Birgit Hallstein.
Hallstein was chosen to sew Mary’s beautiful wedding gown from her 2004 wedding to King Frederik.
The dress, which was designed by Uffe Frank, looked absolutely gorgeous on the Australian-born royal.

In Europe, Queen Consorts traditionally wear white on the day their husbands ascend to the throne.
It is seen as a very significant choice for royal consorts, as Queen Camilla also wore white on the day of King Charles’s Coronation.
In addition, Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Mathilde of Belgium chose to wear white for the day of the proclamations of Felipe VI of Spain and Philippe of Belgium.
Earlier today, Queen Margrethe, King Frederik and Queen Mary departed Amalienborg for the historic accession in Denmark.

Queen Margrethe signed the formal transfer of power, meaning that her eldest son became King Frederik X of Denmark.
Denmark’s new King and Queen will later be proclaimed from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace by the Prime Minister.
King Frederik X is expected to address the crowd.
A special cannon salute will celebrate the occasion, and the national flag will then be lowered and raised again at the royal palaces.

Afterwards, the new King and Queen will ride in a carriage from Christiansborg Palace to Frederik VIII’s Palace, Amalienborg escorted by the Guard Hussar Regiment’s mounted squadron.
Royal fans can later expect the transfer of the royal colours from Christian IX’s Palace to Frederik VIII’s Palace.
Queen Margrethe II announced her abdication during her New Year’s Eve speech, citing extensive back surgery as the reason.
Frederik and Mary, who tied the knot in 2004, have become the new King and Queen.
