Denise Welch has revealed she and her husband Lincoln Townley have had to up sticks and move now her stalker is behind bars after he torched the home they shared together.

Toraq Wyngard, 64, was jailed for seven years and seven months after starting a blaze in a skip on her driveway, which then spread to her garage.

The former Dancing on Ice star was in her home at the time of the incident and was only alerted to the blaze on her front door after a passer-by knocked.

Welch has since moved out of her Cheshire home and publicly announced the life update after she called out a broadband service on her social media account to complain about their service.

She wrote: “For 2 weeks I’ve tried via your system to cancel my service. Every time it says someone will contact me. They haven’t. I don’t want to pay for a service I no longer need as we’ve moved.”

The incident occurred on September 2020, and two years later her stalker was finally jailed at Chester Crown Court: “You know that scream from someone that you don’t want to hear?

“I ran downstairs and the boys were all outside. We had a skip in the drive and it was full of wood and very flammable stuff. It was ablaze and it was trying to catch on to the trees.

“There was a lady at the door who I didn’t know saying,’ I hope it’s alright I knocked on your door’. I thought, ‘My God, you’ve potentially saved our lives here’.”

“Lincoln jumped into my car, drove it out and, at which point, the flames came through the side of the skip. They would have caught the car,” she told her Loose Women co-stars.

By the time firefighters had made it to her house, the fire had spread to Denise’s garage and was melting her guttering, causing £4,285 worth of damage.

When Wyngard was arrested nearby, the police discovered a kitchen knife in his rucksack, before he pleaded guilty to stalking, causing serious alarm or distress, between September 18, 2020 and February 11, 2021.

During police interviews, Wyngard – who has a history of mental illness including bipolar disorder – denied being involved and answered no comment to questions.

Wyngard failed in his application to overturn his guilty plea and was later sentenced.

“It emotionally terrorises you,” Denise admitted. “Lincoln and I have to be apart for work reasons and I had never, ever been scared. This has been an incredibly terrifying and stressful time for me and our family.
