David Beckham has broken his silence after being overlooked for a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours list.

The former England football captain shared an upbeat social media post celebrating his family and reflecting on an “unforgettable year”.

Beckham, 49, who was notably absent from the latest honours list, chose to focus on the positives as 2024 drew to a close.

The ex-Manchester United legend shared a series of family photographs on Instagram, leading with a romantic image of himself kissing his wife Victoria.

In his heartfelt message, Beckham wrote: “Happy New Year from myself, my wife and my amazing kids… Thank you for an unforgettable year and I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2025. Love David x.”

Victoria Beckham joined the celebrations by sharing a video of the couple dancing together.

She captioned the intimate moment with: “My number one dancing partner, my everything. I love you so so much @davidbeckham.”

The couple, who have been married for 25 years, posted photos with their four children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

Also included was a poignant image of Beckham speaking with former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, who passed away from cancer in 2024.

The wholesome socials blitz was in sharp contrast to the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star’s leaked alleged reaction to missing out on a knighthood in 2017.

Beckham reportedly branded the honours committee “unappreciative c***s”.

The former midfielder also reportedly criticised opera star Katherine Jenkins after she received an OBE, saying: “Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops. F***ing joke.”

Beckham, who already holds an OBE, had previously claimed that some of the leaked emails were doctored.

A friend of Beckham told The Mirror at the time: “He is very calm at the moment because he knows the great work that he has done for UNICEF.”

Despite the knighthood disappointment, Beckham has enjoyed significant business success in 2024.

As co-owner of Inter Miami, he celebrated the team winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield for the best regular season record.

His business ventures have flourished, with his firm DRJB Holdings Limited reporting a pre-tax profit of £28.75million, more than double the previous year’s £12.87million. Revenue also grew by two per cent year-on-year to £72.44million.

The Netflix documentary about his life contributed to this success, with Studio 99 Group, which produced the film, seeing revenue rise to £11.95million.

Much of Beckham’s professional focus now remains in Florida, where he spends considerable time overseeing Inter Miami’s operations.
