- He followed his Christmas entrance with a memorable rollercoaster win
Ricky Evans beat sixth seed Dave Chisnall in a thrilling second round encounter at the World Darts Championship after making another brilliantly festive entrance.
Chisnall became the 13th seed to crash out in round two at Alexandra Palace with with Evans sealing a dramatic 3-2 win which went all the way down to a sudden death leg.
Evans brought the Christmas cheer once again as he made his way out to Merry Christmas Everyone wearing his Christmas-themed shirt and glasses while holding a dancing toy Santa.
Evans proceeded to dance along with the toy on stage, much to the amusement of the crowd.
The match was a memorable one, not least for a shocking miscount from Chisnall in the penultimate leg.
Chisnall pulled off a 131 finish, celebrating after hitting double 16 at the end.
However, he actually needed 139, meaning he should have finished on double 20.
He was able to keep his composure and take it to a decider but it was his opponent who claimed victory as the fans in attendance reached fever-pitch.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the win, Evans said: ‘it’s not even what it is, again I’ve played a world class darts player.
‘I’ve played quite well and won. Normally it’s poo, I can say poo. Look at this, wow. I don’t understand it, why are they cheering me on?’
On the Alexandra Palace crowd, he added: ‘I wish I’d beat Chizzy 3-0, my ticker would be a bit slower.
‘The another 11 months of the year, what am I doing? Apart from my wedding. I must be a Scott Williams prodigy. It must be the gingers.
‘I don’t get this reception in my household. Thank you very much. You’ve made a very fat guy very happy.’
