A portion of the Dallas Cowboys fan base came into its playoff game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday fearing the team’s recent postseason form would return. They were right.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, including a pick-six, to have the Cowboys trailing the Packers 27-7 at halftime.
Prescott looks like he’s not up for a big game again, compared to the Packers, who appear to have found their quarterback of the next dozen years in Jordan Love.
‘GET RID OF DAK PRESCOTT. ENOUGH OF THE SUFFERING. HE WAS A 4TH-ROUNDER FOR A REASON,’ Skip Bayless angrily posted on X. ‘I THREW HIS JERSEY AWAY FOR A REASON. HE’S NOW 2-5 IN THE PLAYOFFS. BIG-MOMENT LOSER. NOT A DALLAS COWBOY QUARTERBACK.’
‘Playoff Dak’ is trending on X, with Prescott’s reputation of not showing up in the team’s biggest games continuing.
Dak Prescott looked awful in the first half, putting the Cowboys in danger of playoff elimination
Jaire Alexander has one of Prescott’s two first-half interceptions. with the Packers leading 27-7
‘I sucked tonight,’ Prescott said after the game.
Coming into the game against the Packers, the Cowboys had won 16 in a row at home.
Since winning the Super Bowl during the 1995 season, Dallas has not advanced to a conference championship game.
This team, which beat fellow NFC contenders Detroit and Philadelphia late in the regular season, was thought to have a great chance to be the team to buck that trend.
Things soured quickly, as Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had to turn away from the game in disgust after his team gave up its third consecutive score to start the playoff matchup.
Prescott’s first interception occurred deep into his own territory, when Jaire Alexander jumped a route and snagged the ball, leading to Aaron Jones second touchdown of the game.
Hoping to turn the momentum down 20 points, Darnell Savage also read Prescott’s throw perfectly and went untouched for a score.
After Savage intercepted him, Prescott didn’t chase after the former Maryland star. He stood still, watching Savage return the ball into the end zone.
Prescott got a little redemption, throwing a touchdown to Jake Ferguson as time in the first half expired.
Prescott finished the game 41-for-60 with 403 passing yards and three touchdown passes.
Love finished the game with a near-perfect passer rating of 157.2. He finished the game 16-of-21 for 272 yards and three passing touchdowns.
Jones bullied Dallas defense for most of the game, scoring three touchdowns on the day.
This was Green Bay’s first postseason game without Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers on its roster since 1982.
