‘Creepy’ Caitlin Clark reporter Gregg Doyel has been suspended and will not attend any Indiana Fever games this summer after his gross interaction with this year’s No. 1 overall WNBA Draft pick.
Doyel, who hasn’t published a column for the Indy Star since April 29, was given a two-week ban, according to a report from Bob Kravitz – a former writer at the same publication.
He is expected to return to work on Monday, May 13.
Doyel’s awkward exchange with Clark stems from her first press conference with the Fever on April 17 – two days after she was drafted as the league’s first overall pick in Brooklyn, NY.
During the press conference, he introduced himself by giving Clark her patented heart gesture. When Clark asked if Doyel liked her popular hand signal, Doyel replied with ‘Start doing it with me and we’ll get along just fine,’ leading to an uncomfortable look from Clark.

Now, as part of the discipline he received on Tuesday, Doyel – a father of two – will no longer attend Fever games this summer but ‘will continue to write columns of the team by watching TV from his home,’ according to Kravitz.
He has also chosen to ‘lay low’ for the time being and is preparing ‘for a trip to visit his son,’ the former Indy star reporter added.
Doyel was widely criticized on social media for his strange encounter with Clark, 21. The backlash led to him sharing a public apology to the former Iowa star in one of his columns for the Indy Star last month.
But that led to even more criticism from WNBA fans, as one X user shared: ‘Nothing says ”I’m sorry” like making us click on your column.’

Famous for his monster wagers on pro and college basketball games, Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy even chimed into the matter, labelling Doyel a ‘sexist pervert.’
Then, creepy footage of Doyel calling Clark ‘this’ and ‘it’ in a weird question to Fever head coach Christie Sides emerged.
‘You were just given the keys to that,’ he first said to Sides, referring to Clark as if she were a sportscar. ‘What are you going to do with it?’
Sides responded by humanizing Clark: ‘Hopefully we’re gonna win a lot of games to start. She’s gonna help us out with that.’
Spokespeople for the Indy Star and its parent company, Gannett, did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment on Tuesday morning.
