Meghan Markle “could have saved the day” for the Royal Family, but instead opted to plough ahead with her reality TV ambitions, according to Kinsey Schofield.

The royal commentator said on GB News that the Duchess’ lifestyle brand debut comes after two years of “disappointment” for her and Prince Harry, but she is continuing to pursue her desire to be on camera.

Meghan unveiled the first products from her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard at a time of turmoil for the Royal Family with King Charles and Princess Kate both undergoing treatment for cancer.

“I believe Meghan is trying to build an empire”, said Schofield.

“I don’t think it was originally what she was going to do when she left the British Royal Family, when she said she was going to be doing a life of service.

“Did they have to go down this path? She’s using Netflix to build this empire and giving them what they want with the reality show element.

LATEST ROYAL NEWS:

“This is her dipping her toes in the reality TV element but also having cameras in her face and being able to push her own products.”

Schofield told Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster that Harry and Meghan could have been elevated to positions of power within The Firm had they offered their support during its time of need.

She said: “I think Meghan is probably really disappointed with what has happened over the last few years. That’s a reality for her.

“What’s so sad is, looking at what has happened with the Royal Family since the start of 2024 is had Harry and Meghan been compassionate and patient, they could have saved the day in 2024.

Meghan’s friend fashion designer Tracy Robbins shared a snap on Instagram of her jar of jam.Instagram

“They would have been elevated in the positions they felt entitled to when working in the Royal Family because they could have stepped up to the plate.

“But instead of doing that, Meghan is selling jam.”

The 42-year-old gifted limited-edition jars of jam to promote her new lifestyle brand.

They were sent to influencers including fashion designer Tracy Robbins, who posted the jam on her Instagram stories.

Robbins wrote: “@AmericanRivieraOrchard breakfast, lunch and dinner just got a little sweeter.”

She followed this up with a picture of the jam in a basket of lemons, where she added: “Thank you for the delicious basket! I absolutely love this jam so not sure I’m sharing with anyone. @AmericanRivieraOrchard Thank you, M! #MontecitoGoodness #AmericanRivieraOrchard.”

While it’s yet to be revealed what the brand’s new offerings will be, the United States Patent and Trademark Office website suggests the company is primed to sell downloadable and printed recipe books.
