Kestrel Foods has issued an urgent recall of its Forest Feast Belgian Milk Chocolate Jumbo Raisins following concerns over potential contamination with peanuts and tree nuts not listed on the packaging.

The recall presents a significant health concern for consumers who suffer from nut allergies, as the undeclared allergens could trigger serious reactions.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an allergy alert regarding the affected product, warning shoppers to avoid consuming it if they have sensitivities to peanuts or nuts.

Those who have already purchased the chocolate-covered raisins and have relevant allergies are being advised not to consume the product under any circumstances.

Undeclared peanuts and nuts pose a potential danger to anyone allergic

The recall specifically affects 1kg packs of the chocolate raisins sold exclusively through Costco stores across the country.

Three batch codes have been identified as potentially compromised: 5344136460, 5345136460, and 5346136460. All affected products carry a best-before date of 31 December 2026, meaning they may still be present in many households.

Shoppers are advised to check their cupboards for any packs matching these details before consuming the product.

The company has contacted allergy support organisations to ensure their members receive notification of the recall, while point-of-sale notices are displayed in Costco stores explaining the situation.

Kestrel Foods Limited has addressed the matter directly, stating that the recall is “due to possible cross-contamination with nuts and peanuts. This may make the implicated batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic or intolerant to nuts or peanuts.”

The company has made clear that affected customers should not consume the product under any circumstances.

“Consumers are advised not to consume the product, but to return it to the Costco Store from which it was purchased. A full refund will be available,” the manufacturer confirmed.

The recall has been assigned reference number FSA-AA-05-2026 by the Food Standards Agency.

The FSA advises anyone who has purchased the affected product and suffers from a peanut or nut allergy to return it to the Costco store where it was bought for a complete refund.

This latest recall follows just days after Sainsbury’s was forced to withdraw its By Sainsbury’s Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder with Redcurrant Honey & Rosemary Glaze due to undeclared milk in the product.

That recall, assigned reference FSA-AA-02-2026, affected 400g packs with batch code 8090642 and a use-by date of 21 January 2026. Both incidents highlight the ongoing importance of accurate allergen labelling in the British food industry.
