- Dobey earned a 5-3 win over Price in the first of the quarter-final matches
- He broke through his quarter-final barrier after last eight exits in 2023 and 2024
- Dobey will face either Michael van Gerwen or Callan Rydz in the semi-finals
Chris Dobey booked his place in a first World Championship semi-final by beating Gerwyn Price after bouncing back from missing five match darts.
Dobey had led 4-2 at Alexandra Palace in the first quarter-final of the tournament.
He faltered despite having five match darts, with Price taking advantage by claiming the set to reduce the deficit to 4-3.
Dobey eventually held off a comeback from Price by producing a double double finish to clinch the next set and seal a 5-3 victory.
The 15th seed appeared visibly relieved to have sealed victory over Price, the 2021 champion.
‘It’s definitely at the top (of my achievements),’ Dobey told Sky Sports.

‘Getting over the line. It means a lot, once again the fans have been fantastic and I’ve never been so nervous throwing at a winning double like today.
‘And I’m just pleased I grinded it out and got the win.
‘Honestly, it reminded us of exactly the same as last year. I thought just keep going, you will get another chance and luckily I got over the line.
‘Honestly I’m overwhelmed.’
The result saw Dobey clear the quarter-final hurdle for the first time having been beaten in the last eight in both 2023 and 2024.
Dobey had suffered an agonising 5-4 loss to Rob Cross last year, while he had been thrashed 5-0 by Michael van Gerwen in 2023.
Van Gerwen is a possible semi-final opponent for Dobey, with the three-time winner facing England’s Callan Rydz in the last eight later today.
The Dutchman is the highest seed remaining in the draw.
Teenage sensation Luke Littler faces Nathan Aspinall in the top half of the draw, with the winner meeting either Steven Bunting or Peter Wright in the semi-finals.
