Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that one of the club’s summer signings could see his Chelsea career come to a quick end in January.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined the Blues from Leicester in a deal worth £30m in July, reuniting with former Foxes manager Maresca.

However, he is yet to start a Premier League game for the club, playing just 55 minutes of top flight football.

His game time has been largely limited to the Europa Conference League, where he has contributed two goals and an assist in six matches.

The second of those goals came on Thursday’s 5-1 win over Shamrock Rovers at Stamford Bridge.

And speaking after the game, Maresca couldn’t confirm if the player would still be with the club in the second half of the campaign.

The Italian said, as quoted by football.london: ‘I cannot say that, not about Kiernan, about all the squad, because when the transfer window is open, unfortunately anything can happen.

‘So I’m not focused on January, the only thing I can say about Kiernan is that we are very happy in the way he’s working, we are very happy about his performance, and this is my thought about Kiernan.’

He added: ‘We don’t want one of our players to leave, the problem is that sometimes the question is more for them, that if they say, OK, you don’t want me to leave, but I’m not happy, I want to play more.

‘So in that case, we are not going to say, no, you have to stay, yes or yes. It’s a matter of agreement between the club and the player, the only thing I can say is that we are happy with Kiernan, then we’ll see.’

Dewsbury-Hall, who is a product of Leicester’s academy, arrived with almost 200 senior appearances, including 80 in the Premier League.
