From hair care hacks to skin care secrets and fashion fixes, there are plenty of ways women can go about looking younger than their age.

Investing in the right makeup products and learning the right techniques can also work wonders. One makeup artist spoke exclusively to GB News about her top anti-ageing makeup tips for women over 50. She advised investing in a creamy concealer for a myriad of benefits.

Divulging her secrets of the trade, celebrity makeup artist and beauty brand founder, Alexa Persico of Alexa Persico Cosmetics, stressed the importance of hydration.

She said: “Hydration is everything. It is the foundation of any great makeup look – especially for mature skin.

“I always recommend starting with a rich moisturiser, but for that extra glow and lasting hydration, I swear by our Brighten Me Baby Glow Mist.

“It locks in moisture, smooths the skin and leaves behind a soft, dewy finish – perfect for creating a plump, youthful canvas.”

Moving on to foundation, the expert claimed that “less is more”, advising women over 50 to go for a lightweight base.

She explained: “Heavy formulas can settle into fine lines, so I recommend using a lightweight, buildable foundation and focusing on sheer coverage.”

Next, she named the product every middle-aged woman should have in their makeup bag.

“A creamy concealer is your best friend for brightening under the eyes and covering any spots while keeping the skin looking fresh,” the makeup artist advised.

She continued: “Soft, hydrated lips are a must. Full, hydrated lips instantly make you look more youthful.

“Stick to softer shades like pinks or nudes, and avoid overly dark or matte formulas that can emphasise lines.

“A sheer gloss or creamy lipstick with a touch of shine will give you that fresh, plump look.”

Finally, Alexa told mature women how to achieve beautiful, vibrant eyes, advising them to “define” them without being too “harsh”.

The expert stated: “As we age, softer definition looks more flattering. Use a pencil eyeliner to gently line your eyes, smudging it slightly for a softer effect.

“Finish with a volumising mascara to open up the eyes and make them look brighter.”
