Celebrities have issued statements confirming their attendance at Prince William’s Earthshot Awards ceremony in November.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to join her husband in Cape Town for the major event.

However, a star-studded lineup has been unveiled including model Heidi Klum and actress Nina Dobrev.

Klum will join other high-profile guests on the green carpet, helping to announce the five winners of the prestigious £1 million prize for contributions to environmentalism.

She said in a statement: “As someone who uses my platform to advocate for a better future for our children, I am deeply inspired by The Earthshot Prize’s ambition to find and support solutions for a healthy planet.

“I am so happy to be a part of the incredible evening the Earthshot Awards has in store to celebrate innovators and encourage our youth to be part of building a better future.”

Dobrev also shared her excitement about Prince William’s initiative: “As someone who cares deeply about the health of our oceans, I have been so inspired to see the Earthshot Prize focus on identifying solutions across Africa and around the world that will help ensure these vital ecosystems are protected for generations to come.”

The guest list includes a mix of international and African celebrities, many of whom are household names across the continent. This diverse lineup aims to generate interest throughout the region.

The ceremony aims to harness what organisers describe as an “explosion of innovation” on the African continent, which saw a significant increase in nominations for this year’s award.

The Earthshot ceremony promises to be a night of extraordinary storytelling and musical performances, celebrating environmental efforts across the planet with a particular focus on Africa.

Performers will include Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Lebo M, the Ndlovu Youth Choir and Uncle Waffles.

The event will be broadcast in 50 markets across Africa during Earthshot Week, during which Prince William will undertake a series of engagements in Cape Town.

The ceremony in Cape Town marks the first time the Earthshot Prize has been held on the African continent, following previous events in London, Boston, and Singapore.

The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William in 2020, aims to award £1 million to five winners annually for a decade.

Notably, the Princess of Wales is not expected to join her husband in South Africa.

She continues to prioritise her recovery after completing chemotherapy treatment.
