Carol Vorderman ‘has savaged people’: Shaun Bailey hits back at presenter ‘trying to destroy him

Former London Mayor candidate Shaun Bailey has revealed the latest in his row with presenter Carol Vorderman, after commenting on her physical appearance.

In a recent appearance on GB News, Bailey weighed in on the recent actions of Vorderman online, after the ex-BBC star used her social media platforms to hit out at Conservative MPs.

Bailey said of Vorderman’s online presence: “On one hand, she’s a serious political commentator, and then if you look at her Instagram, it’s all pictures of her bum and her boobs. What is it? She can’t be both.”

Vorderman was forced to step down from her role at BBC Radio Wales, after the broadcaster introduced new guidelines for their stars.

Reflecting on her exit at the time, Vorderman told her Instagram followers in a statement she was “not prepared to lose her voice” on social media.

She added that she will “continue to criticise the current UK Government” for what it has done to Britain.

Appearing on Britain’s Newsroom, Bailey detailed how Vorderman has called him a “misogynist” for his comments, and has received threats as a result of the row.

Bailey defended his comments and stated that Vorderman has posted “terrible things” about public figures, “particularly women”.

Bailey explained: “She has absolutely savaged people. Yes, I expressed myself in a poor way, but what I was trying to say is she lives in a glitzy, glamour world now. Our children follow her, look up to her.

“She’s a clever, intelligent woman, but on the other hand, she’s deliberately trying to destroy people and organising massive pilings.”

He continued: “The amount of racial abuse that I’ve had because of her – people threatening to kill my mum, directly because of actions she’s taken.

“And the disappointing thing is people who should know better in the media have supported her. I had a woman approach me this morning and say ‘do I feel under pressure racially’, and she showed me what people had said to me off the back of Carol Vorderman’s comments.”

Bailey admitted that the threats are now something he’s “worrying about”, and how the impact of Carol Vorderman’s platform is causing “massive pilings” on those who question her attacks.

Bailey stated: “I’m not particularly surprised because recent history has demonstrated this. I was a bit taken aback at how everything was taken out of context.

“I admit it was a crass way of expressing an important point, but it’s the way in which the world unfortunately works.

“If you don’t like the Tories, don’t like the Tories. But to organise personal pilings like this, they run the risk and the problem we have in this country now, we are polarised in a way we’ve never been.”
