Cameron Walker has taken GB News members behind the scenes on the trip to Samoa, during the Royal Tour in Australia.

The GB News Royal Correspondent flew from Sydney to Samoa in the early hours of the morning.

The royal reporters had to get an “incredibly” early flight to Samoa, in order to arrive before King Charles and Queen Camilla touch down.

“I’m going to try and sleep as much as I can on the flight because tonight we have got to broadcast live from Apia Airport for the King and Queen’s arrival and ceremonial welcome,” he told GB News members.

Cameron Walker shares behind the scenes update after landing in Samoa

After landing in Samoa, Cameron shared an update while in the airport. “We’ve touched down in Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.

“I look slightly dishevelled. We’ve just found out there is no time to get back to the hotel, to then come back here for the King’s arrival later on this evening, which means I need to find somewhere to look slightly presentable for Breakfast. We”re going to be live on Breakfast for the King’s arrival.

“The glamour of waiting around an airport terminal in the pouring rain, but it’s very humid. Very hot. So I need to take off this hoody.”

Cameron Walker lists plan for the day as King visits Samoa

The following morning, Cameron wished GB News members a good morning from Samoa.

“It was absolutely biblical rainfall this morning but it has stopped raining. The sun is trying to peek through.

“We’re just in the pool area by the hotel. It’s absolutely boiling here. Very very humid indeed. A busy day for the King today – there’s a traditional welcome ceremony this morning. We’re not going to that event. We have another camera covering it.

“What we are going to is a cultural village which the King will be attending. He’s going to be bestowed a special status by the village chief.”

Cameron proceeded to explain the King would be doing a mangrove walk, and visit a national park, adding: “It should be a really fun day. Hopefully the weather holds off. Let’s go!”

Having made his way to the Moata’a village hall ahead of the King’s arrival, Cameron paused to update GB News members.

“Well, we’re just moments away now from the King and Queen arriving for this special ceremony at the Moata’a village hall,” he said.

“He’s going to have a high chiefdom bestowed upon him. We’ve got our cameras set up.”

The camera panned to the front of the village hall behind Cameron, as he explained: “The King and Queen are going to be on these two chairs here at the front. They kind of look a bit like thrones, don’t they?

“It’s a bit of a waiting game. Again, we’ve filmed what we can and we’ll edit and give it back to Breakfast for 6:00 in the morning.”
