Cameron Menzies was denied chance to give Prince William a gift by Fallon Sherrock

Cameron Menzies has revealed he wanted Fallon Sherrock to give Prince William a Rangers keyring after she visited Buckingham Palace.

The Muirkirk star is preparing for his second Paddy Power PDC World Championship, with the darts star set to face Rusty-Jake Rodriguez at Alexandra Palace on Friday.

Menzies is set to have fellow darts star Sherrock by his side in London as he looks to reign supreme.

And now, speaking to The Sun, he’s revealed he saw his dream of Prince William receiving a Rangers keyring denied.

Sharrock visited Buckingham Palace and received an MBE last month.

And Menzies has revealed his other half failed to fulfil his dream – and wishes he had been with her.

He said: “I was given a Rangers key ring and it’s in the house.

“I wanted Fallon to give it to Prince William.

“I’m sure he doesn’t care about Rangers, he’s an Aston Villa fan.

“If I had gone to Windsor Castle with Fallon to get the MBE, I would have worn a Rangers top and kilt.

“She wears my old Rangers kits around the house, I think she finds them comfy.

“I have loads of them, that’s what I wear around the house.

“A few are a bit tight for me these days and she steals them!

Menzies also shed light on how his romance with Sherrock started, saying a trip to KFC ignited the flames.

He added: “I had known Fallon for years in darts and played doubles with her years ago.

“We met in an online league in Southampton. The rest is history as they say. It started off with a KFC!

“She needs me to force her to practice.

“We can throw for two hours together. It is definitely a good thing we push each other.

“Fallon has done more on the big stage than me. But we support each other. When you get beat you are down.

“We both know how the other feels after matches.

“She lets me stare into space and leaves me alone for five minutes and then I’m fine!

“It would be good to both still be in the Worlds after Christmas.

“I don’t know who will be cooking the turkey.

“Usually I’m up in Scotland with the family but this year I’ll be down in England with Fallon.

“Basically the first one knocked out of the Worlds has to do the turkey!”

And, on his upcoming duel with Rodriguez, Menzies is confident he’ll win if he operates at the peak of his powers.

“We’ve played twice and won one each and both games have been 6-5 so it could be a close game again.

“I’ll be honest I was quite gutted to be on opening night. I was wanting to watch it for a few days and get into it.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

“Hopefully the real me turns up and I’ll hit the doubles and a wee run that will take a good player to beat me.

“I’ve shown this year in spells that I’ve got that A game in me. So if that appears it will take someone pretty good to knock me out.

“I think I did better last year results-wise but this year I have played better but the results haven’t been great.

“I’ve had a couple of good runs. I’ve had a couple of bad games which is usual for me. I think my average is 94 and I’m pretty happy with that.”
