BYD has been knocked off the top spot as being the most Googled Chinese car brand in the UK, with a new manufacturer claiming the crown.

Despite launching less than 12 months ago, Jaecoo has quickly become one of the most popular car brands in the UK, with the Jaecoo 7 already one of the best-selling hybrids.

According to fresh data from Google UK’s Year in Search 2025, Jaecoo was named the most-searched Chinese car brand in the UK.

The search term “Jaecoo Cars” also ranked highly among established European and South Korean counterparts, ranking third overall in the top 10 trending car searches for 2025.

Jaecoo has quickly cemented its place in the UK market within a matter of months as drivers flock to the Chinese brand for affordable prices, impressive technology and a range of hybrids and electric vehicles.

So far this year, Jaecoo has sold more than 24,418 vehicles in the UK, registering an impressive 1.3 per cent of the total market share.

It has even overtaken the likes of Citroen, Fiat, Honda, Jeep, Polestar, Seat, and Suzuki, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Gary Lan, CEO of Jaecoo UK, said: “Being recognised by Google as the most searched Chinese car brand in the UK is a significant milestone for Jaecoo.

“It shows that British consumers are actively seeking new brands that offer distinctive design, advanced technology and all-encompassing value.

“As awareness grows, our focus remains on building trust, educating customers and delivering products that resonate with the UK market.”

Jaecoo has already sold more than 26,000 of its popular 7 Super Hybrid System model, which is already one of the best-selling hybrids in the UK.

In November, the Jaecoo 7 was the eighth best-selling model in the UK, with more than 2,400 registrations, beating out other popular models like the Mini Cooper and Audi A3.

Jaecoo has also launched the electric E5 model, the brand’s first pure electric model, with a retail price of £27,505.

Mr Lan also highlighted that Jaecoo’s sister brand, Omoda, will have a “big year”, especially with the continued rollout of the Omoda 7.

The hybrid SUV has an impressive 56-mile pure electric driving range, 639-litre boot capacity, and an affordable price point of £29,915.

Omoda has also made a positive impression on British drivers, with the brand selling more than 18,000 vehicles between January and November, enough for 0.96 per cent of the market share.

Having launched just over a year ago, the year-on-year sales of the Chinese brand show a huge 538 per cent growth.

Although BYD has been on the UK market for a slightly longer duration, consumer appetite for affordable and technologically-advanced Chinese vehicles has grown.

BYD remains the most dominant Chinese automaker in the UK, with 43,740 vehicle sales, although other manufacturers from China are starting to take over.

The likes of Changan, Chery, Geely, GWM, and Skywell have also seen impressive sales growth in recent months.
