A man who “routinely” raped a woman while she was asleep and intoxicated before sending apologetic texts which he later denied were admissions of guilt has been jailed.

Joseph Yuen of Bury, Greater Manchester, was reported in January 2021 after the victim went to police.

Officers found text messages between Yuen and the woman, in which he had “made incriminating admissions” and apologised for what he did.

The 30-year-old, of Bournville Drive, was found guilty of two counts of rape and jailed for 10 years at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
