Police said the woman’s next of kin had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
A post-mortem examination was due to take place, police said.
Det Insp Chris Mannion said officers were “working to piece together a timeline of events.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community.
“I would urge anyone with concerns, or information to share, to speak with our officers.”
He said extra patrols would be in the area during the investigation.
