Matt Goss has revealed he is still not speaking to twin brother Luke, saying, “I’ve really tried my best”.
The Bros star spoke to ITV’s Lorraine about what he called his “dysfunctional” relationship with his brother and former pop co-star, claiming he had been “considerate to the point where it almost breaks you”.
Matt and Luke featured in 2018 documentary After the Screaming Stops which charted the run up to a reunion concert and the difficulties in their relationship. Matt made reference to one of its most famous moments as he told Lorraine host Ranvir Singh on Friday: “I’m not superstitious any more.”

Matt Goss is preparing to head back out on tour, decades after he first found fame with twin Luke in Bros – but his tour will see him continue his recent career as a solo artist after his relationship with Luke broke down.
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine on Friday, Matt opened up about still not speaking to his brother after many of their difficulties were shown in 2018 award-winning documentary Bros: After the Screaming Stops.
He told host Ranvir Singh of making the documentary: “It was difficult to watch it because it was so dysfunctional in many ways. Afterwards, people would come up to me and say we’re dysfunctional as well. There’s a lot of dysfunction in families, in many ways we find out comfort from friends. Family have that ability to go a little bit too far sometimes. They know the buttons to press… We’re pretty dysfunctional.”

Talking about how he is getting on with Luke now, he added: “Now, I have a whole philosophy within myself that if I do my best and I know that I can look at myself and say I’ve tried my best, I’ve been communicative, I’ve been loving, caring — if that doesn’t work then that’s ok I’ve got to live my own life as well.
“I really am at peace with myself as a man because I’ve really tried and I think that’s all you can do.”
He admitted: “Even coming on here, I worry, but I can’t come on here and lie. We’re not talking and it is what it is, and if he doesn’t like it, it’s the way it is. I’ve tried.
“When you’re considerate to the point where it almost breaks you, that’s wrong, so I’m just going to be truthful. I’m not going to go into detail, I’m a very discreet person, but I’m going to be truthful about where I stand.”
Despite the difficult experience tracking their preparations for a reunion show, Matt said that he would consider making another documentary with Luke.
He said: “I’m very proud of After the Screaming Stops but it was just the tip of the iceberg. I feel like there was so much more to say. I’d love to make new music with my brother, I’d love to properly go on that journey with him.
“It’s the love of my life and I would love to get on stage with him, but I’ve done my best, so…”
Matt Goss says he’s still not superstitious
One of the most famous moments from After the Screaming Stops was Matt talking about what a huge effect Stevie Wonder’s hit Superstition had had on his life philosophy.
In a scene that went viral, Matt earnestly told the cameras: “I made a conscious decision, because of Stevie Wonder, to not be superstitious.”
The Bros star has admitted previously that he can see the funny side after watching it back, and he poked fun at the quote again as he told Singh he was not superstitious about his voice.
Matt said: “Where the voice takes you is the most incredible journey. I feel very lucky, my band call me Iron Voice… It just always turns up for me, I’ve never really had a problem with my voice.”
Singh told him “touch wood”, but he replied: “No, you know me, I’m not superstitious. Not any more.”
Talking about his new tour, Matt teased that it was set to be “a lot more sweaty” than his Las Vegas residency.
He said: “It’s going to be a lot more sweaty, a lot more fun.”
Singh told him: “I think of you as smooth, not sweaty.” But Matt replied: “Oh, I’m sweaty. You should think of me as smooth and sweaty.”
