Britons have been made aware that a cosmetics product is unsafe, presenting a serious chemical risk to users.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) shared that Golden Pearl Beauty Cream from Sash Cosmetics has been recalled.

The OPSS stated: “The product presents a serious chemical risk as when tested, the cream was found to contain 14600 mg/kg (1.5 per cent) mercury. Mercury is prohibited for use in cosmetic products.

“For more information on mercury, access the UK Government’s guidance on Mecury, available at GOV.UK.

“The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation 1223/2009. The product has been recalled from end users by Sash Cosmetics.”

Those who have the product at home should stop using it immediately.
