Two products that were listed on Amazon were recalled after both posing a “serious risk of fire.”
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) alerted Britons that these products were unsafe and did not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The OPSS stated: “The product presents a serious risk of fire because it is inadequately earthed. The plug is fitted with an ineffective fuse which does not contain a sufficient granular filler to operate as needed.
“If an electrical fault occurs in the appliance/power supply, the poor-quality fuse will not function as required, potentially causing the product to overheat and ignite. Improvements are also required to marking, labelling and documentation.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.”
The import of the product has been rejected at the border and destroyed which means anyone who has ordered it has been warned they will not receive it. It is one of two products that have been listed on Amazon and rejected at the border in the span of just 48 hours.

The OPSS said: “This product presents a serious risk of fire because the cable can overheat. The main supply cord had excessive resistance and can become hot during use, leading to it igniting and causing a fire. Improvements are required to marking, labelling and documentation.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.”
The Local Authority Trading Standards have notified both recalled products.
Britons were also notified of a ladder that was also listed on Amazon which was recently recalled.
