The OPSS stated: “The product presents a high risk of fire as it is fitted with only basic insulation. Under fault conditions, the insulation may break down causing internal components to overheat, causing a fire.
“Additionally, accessible metal parts could become live. If the user then touched the product, they would receive an electric shock. Improvements are also required to marking, labelling and documentation.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.”
The import of the product was rejected at the border and it joins two products that were listed on Amazon which were recalled recently for both posing a “serious risk of fires.”
