Paris is a dream destination for many Britons looking to move abroad, but before making the leap, there are some important things to be aware of.
Janine Marsh, a British expat in France, previously spoke exclusively to GB News about the big mistake to avoid when relocating to the capital.
This time, she gave GB News readers further insight into moving to Paris, advising Britons to avoid making a mistake that might make them unpopular.
Janine said: “Although many French people who live in Paris will speak English, if you don’t speak French when you move to Paris, it can be perceived by some as a kind of negative attitude.

“So learn French – make an effort to learn French as soon as possible. It will enhance your experience at every level, from going to the local café to dealing with the authorities.
“Embracing the culture of France includes the language. They’re incredibly proud of their language so if you don’t bother to learn it, you’ll lose out.”
In a previous conversation with GB News, Janine revealed how to learn the skill and why it is so important.
As for how Janine mastered French, she revealed that watching TV and films in the language really helped.
Offering a second tip to Britons in Paris, the France enthusiast urged fellow expats to “join a community”.
This is great for both learning the language and establishing connections in a new city.
Janine said: “There are plenty of expat communities in Paris and they can be really helpful in sharing information and helping you to settle in.
“Look on Facebook and online for communities from English-speaking theatre groups to expat groups.
“Even if you’re keen to start a new life and fit into the Parisian way of life, having the support of others who have gone through the ‘moving to Paris’ experience can really help you settle in quicker and integrate. Don’t try to go it alone – those groups are there for a reason.”
Whether you’re planning a move to Paris or would rather vacation in the French capital, Janine named the “astoundingly beautiful” Paris attraction “most people don’t even know is there”.
