Britons travelling to France could be hit with severe travel disruptions when visiting the holiday destination.

A new Government warning urges holidaymakers to prepare for disruptions on the roads.

This follows ongoing advice about terrorism in the area with Britons urged to be prepared for an “imminent threat”.

The latest update says visitors should be aware of disruptions on the road as protests continue in the country.

There are ongoing warnings for Britons to be aware of if visiting France

The FCO stated: “Protests by farmers have taken place across France. Since January, action has included blocking roads and delaying traffic.

“Monitor the media, avoid protests, expect delays on some major roads and follow the advice of the authorities.”

This comes as visitors in France are urged to be vigilant as a severe terrorism warning remains.

The FCO added: “Following a fatal attack in Arras, northern France, on 13 October, France has raised its national threat level to the highest level (‘Emergency Attack Level’).

“This threat level is described as ‘maximum vigilance and protection in the event of an imminent threat of a terrorist act or in the immediate aftermath of an attack’.”

It added evacuations could take place in crowded spaces such as airports, public transport stations, tourist spots, sports venues, schools, places of worship and large commercial centres.

“Stay alert, be prepared for heightened security checks and follow the advice of local authorities,” it added.

“Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in France.”

France is a popular option for holidaymakers and it is a great place to visit if Britons follow the Government’s advice.

Jet2 announced new routes from the UK for anyone travelling to France.

It launched new flights for winter 2024 for skiers looking to visit France, Italy and more.

The airline will run flights to eight ski destinations for winter 24/25 – Chambery, Geneva, Grenoble, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Lyon, Turin and Verona.
