British taxpayer should not pay for ‘celebrities’ Harry and Meghan ‘who denounced Royal Family’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ongoing security battle has been criticised by Lauren Chen, as the Duke of Sussex continues his fight for police protection in the UK.

At the end of February, the Prince suffered another defeat after a High Court judge ruled in favour of the 2020 decision made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).

The decision made four years ago, which sparked Prince Harry’s lengthy legal drama, was that he should receive a “different degree of protection” when in the UK, after stepping down as a working royal with wife Meghan Markle.

Reacting to the most recent development, a legal spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said he “will appeal” the judgment which “refuses his judicial review claim against the decision-making body Ravec, which includes the Home Office, the Royal Household and the Met Police”.

They added: “The Duke of Sussex hopes he will obtain justice from the Court of Appeal, and makes no further comment while the case is ongoing.”

Discussing Prince Harry’s ongoing security troubles, The Blaze TV host Lauren Chen made clear that he “will receive protection” when he comes to the UK for royal-related events, such as his recent visit to see King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

The US commentator questioned if the British taxpayer should be funding his and Meghan’s security for a “Netflix press tour to promote their latest tell-all documentary or a smear campaign”.

Amid the latest ruling, GBN America host Mark Dolan questioned if the British authorities would have “blood on their hands” if something happened to Prince Harry or his family whilst in the UK.

Chen responded: “I don’t think that it’s fair for the Prince to portray this as him going up against the Crown and the racist xenophobic British establishment which he loves to portray his family is being, instead of him going up against the British taxpayer, which is really what this is all about.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Chen explained: “If, heaven forbid, anything were to happen to the Prince, honestly I believe he’s of high enough profile as is his wife that he should be responsible for his own security costs, like every other celebrity is currently.

“Let’s not forget, since leaving their royal duties, that essentially is what Harry and Meghan are. They are just celebrities.”

Mark agreed, telling GBN America: “You’re absolutely right. He chose to leave the country, he chose to leave his family, and he chose to discard his royal duties.”

Mark then asked Chen: “But of course, it’s not Prince Harry’s choice that he’s the son of King Charles. Doesn’t that make protection essential?”

Chen responded: “It’s definitely not his choice that he’s the son of King Charles, but there there are a lot of people who are thrust into the limelight by no choice or fault of their own. But that doesn’t mean that they get to charge security to the taxpayer for the rest of their life.

“And I think the British people were understanding of providing security for the families, the Markle’s as I like to call them, while they were still working royals and were still contributing to British life. But if you think about what the situation is right now, not only does Prince Harry visit the UK to participate in family events, he’s also going over for things like press tours and award shows.

“Now we really need to ask ourselves, is it fair for the British public to pay for security for a celebrity who has essentially denounced the Royal family and smeared not only them but also the British public?”
