A family were left shocked after being charged an eye-watering £618 for just two hot dogs at a popular Christmas market.
Laura Brumpton, 34, and her husband Alan, 37, took their two children to Nottingham’s Christmas market for a day of festive fun earlier this month.
However, the cheer soon turned to outrage when they saw that they had been charged over £600 for the pair of hot dogs they purchased for their children.
The hot dogs were meant to cost £9 each, but when tapping their card to pay, they did not read the figure on the machine.

The vendor had accidentally added £600 to the bill, and after seeing the mistake, apologised and reassured the couple that they would get a refund.
However, well over a week later, the family from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, are still waiting for their money back.
With a £600 hole in her wallet, Brumpton turned to social media to share her experience accidentally purchasing “the UK’s most expensive hotdog”.
She shared footage of the incident on TikTok, which has gained over five million views in just two weeks.

In the clip, the vendor can be seen apologising to the couple. Brumpton also shared a picture of the receipt for the hotdogs.
“The vendor was very apologetic. It was an honest mistake,” Brumpton told the Daily Mirror.
“She said, ‘I can give you a refund. It should take about an hour.’ But it’s still not there now. It’s a lot of money to be missing just before Christmas.”
She added that this bad luck was “typical of our family”. “It’s a bit of a thing – don’t go out the house because anything could happen around Christmas.”

Users online reacted with shock at the outrageous price, some expressing anger, whilst others tried to make light of the situation.
One person asked: “Did they not even give you a free hotdog for the inconvenience?”, whilst another said: “Can’t believe they didn’t refund the hot dogs as well as an apology.”
Meanwhile, another joked that £600 was “a bargain for two hot dogs at a Christmas market”, commenting on the typical costly price of a day out at a Christmas market.
