Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has been ruled out of their game against the New York Jets on Monday.

Cook had been hoping to play in the huge AFC East showdown after practicing on Sunday.

However, upon arriving at MetLife Stadium, he was quickly ruled inactive because of a toe injury in a huge blow for the Bills.

It means Ray Davis and Ty Johnson will shoulder the running game for the Bills, as well as quarterback Josh Allen, while Frank Gore Jr. is suited up too.

The Bills have had a much better start to their campaign than the Jets. They rattled off three straight wins but have now lost back-to-back games.

As for the Jets, they can move into first place in the AFC East with a win on Monday night.

A 2-3 start resulted in Jets owner Woody Johnson firing head coach Robert Saleh and promoting Jeff Ulbrich, the Jets’ defensive coordinator, to take the reins as the interim coach.

Ulbrich demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, stripping his play-calling duties to hand the responsibility to quarterbacks coach Todd Downing.
