The New Orleans Saints have placed wide receiver Chris Olave on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four games.

His placement on IR comes after the 24-year-old was left motionless after a head-to-head collision during the Saints-Lions game on Sunday night.

Adam Schefter reported that Olave is meeting with an independent concussion specialist for further information and could miss the rest of the season.

With Olave sidelined, the team has elevated receivers Kevin Austin Jr. and Dante Pettis to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, per the Saints website.

Olave was sandwiched between two defenders while trying to catch a pass from quarterback Derek Carr in a game that New Orleans ultimately lost, 23-22.

He then lay motionless on the turf for several seconds before a panicked teammate and official ran over to check on him.

After medics rushed on to treat Olave, many Saints players dropped to one knee while officials from both teams stood over the receiver.

He was carried off the field on the cart and then taken to a hospital in Charlotte.

About two hours later, the Saints announced that Olave had been discharged and would travel back to New Orleans with the team on Sunday night.

Olave also expressed his gratitude for his fans on X, writing: ‘Thank God Preciate all the love & prayers Ima be aight.’

The Saints have lost their last seven games, putting them to a 2-7 record this season and third in the NFC South. Following the defeat to league-worst Carolina, the team fired head coach Dennis Allen.

Special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi was elevated to interim head coach and will take charge on Sunday against Atlanta.
