Denver Broncos assistant GM Darren Mougey is joining the New York Jets as their new general manager, according to reports.

The Jets are undergoing a huge makeover after a miserable season which saw them go 5-12 and miss out on the NFL playoffs, with Aaron Glenn becoming their new head coach earlier this week.

Now the team’s GM vacancy appears to have been filled too, with reporter Josina Anderson claiming Mougey is set to take on the role in New York.

The 39-year-old, a former wide receiver in his own playing career, has spent over a decade with the Broncos after first joining as a scouting intern back in 2012.

He went on to enjoy a number of different roles in Denver before eventually becoming assistant general manager in February 2022.

During his three-year tenure as George Paton’s right-hand man, Mougey helped the Broncos secure its first playoff berth in a decade this season, which ended in defeat against Super Bowl contenders the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round.
