LeBron James revealed to reporters on Wednesday night that his family has been forced to evacuate their home in Brentwood due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
James added that the home is not damaged, though the family is currently staying in a hotel.
‘Personally, I’ve been off,’ James told reporters. ‘Personally, my family, we’ve been evacuated since Thursday night, so I’ve been in a hotel since pretty much when we got back from Dallas. So, just figuring it out. But staying strong for one another. Obviously, that’s most important.’
The Lakers star said that family friends had lost their homes in the fires, which have ravaged the city since January 7.
‘I’m very happy that my family is safe, my wife, my three kids, my mom she’s been here. ‘Everyone’s safe, but it’s just been off.’

As of early Thursday afternoon, over 40,000 acres of land have been burned in the LA fires, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The Palisades fire, responsible for the most damage, is only 22 percent contained, while the Eaton fire is now 55 percent contained.
That damage has hit close to home for James’ Lakers, as the team’s head coach JJ Redick lost his home in the Palisades fire.
Others in the NBA have also been affected by the fires, as LA native Russell Westbrook said that close friends and family had lost their homes.
