The judge who presided over the murder trial of Michael Jordan’s father is calling for the convicted killer to be released.
Retired Judge Gregory Weeks has petitioned the North Carolina state parole board to call for the release of Daniel Andre Green, who was convicted in the 1996 murder trial.
Weeks says a forensic blood expert failed to disclose significant findings in the trial, which could have cast doubt on Green’s guilt.
James Jordan was gunned down at age 56 in 1993 while sleeping in his car along the side of a highway in his native North Carolina. Prosecutors claimed Green shot James Jordan in a botched robbery.
Green has denied killing James, insisting he merely helped co-defendant Larry Demery dispose of the body in a South Carolina swamp.
