Former Arsenal star Kristoffer Olsson is in hospital after losing consciousness whilst at home.
The Sweden international has been placed on a ventilator due to suffering ‘an acute disease related to the brain’, after being taken to Aarhus University Hospital on Tuesday February 20.
His current club FC Midtylland released a statement on Tuesday morning detailing the reasons as to why their player has been ‘absent’, stressing that his current state is ‘not due to self-harm of any kind’.
‘Kristoffer Olsson is affected by an apparently acute disease related to the brain, which is not due to self-harm of any kind, nor is the cause due to external factors,’ the Danish side’s statement read.’
‘A team of Denmark’s leading medical experts is currently working at high pressure to make a diagnosis and initiate the right treatment.

‘Since admission, Kristoffer has been surrounded by his immediate family and parts of FC Midtjylland’s staff, and is being treated by specialists in the field.
‘FC Midtjylland urgently requests the public to show respect and understanding, so that Kristoffer, the family and the doctors get the necessary peace of mind to ensure Kristoffer’s recovery and recovery as well as possible.
‘Everyone at FC Midtjylland is of course deeply affected by Kristoffer’s sudden illness and our thoughts and full support go out to Kristoffer and his family.’
Olsson briefly featured at the Emirates after joining the club as a youth prospect in 2011.
After picking up scant appearances in his debut senior season in 2013-14, the midfielder was sent on loan to Midtylland, in a move that was made permanent at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

The 28-year-old later turned out for Swedish side AIK, Krasnodar, and Anderlecht before moving back to Denmark and his former club in 2022.
AIK was quick to send a statement of support for their former player, posting a missive on X (formerly Twitter) in the wake of news breaking.
‘We have received the tragic news that the former AIK player and golden hero Kristoffer Olsson has suffered a sudden illness and is currently on a ventilator at Aarhus University Hospital,’ the club wrote.
‘Everyone in AIK Football is deeply affected by his sudden illness and our thoughts and full support go to Kristoffer and his family. Fight Koffe! (heart emoji)’
