Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke is expected to be handed an England recall by Lee Carsley today.

The forward has hit an impressive run of form scoring three goals in as many matches for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

And interim head coach Carsley is set to pick Solanke in his squad to face Greece and Finland in the Nations League from next week.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played for England since 2017, when he came on as a substitute in a game against Brazil.

But he is now in line to have the chance to revive his international career.

Man United defender Harry Maguire is set to miss out on today’s squad

Solanke is set to be rewarded for hitting the ground running at Spurs after his £65m summer move from Bournemouth.

He endured a difficult debut when he missed a number of chances in a 1-1 draw with Leicester and picked up an ankle injury that ruled him out of two games.

But he has looked sharp upon his return, and found the net in Tottenham’s wins over Brentford, Qarabag and Manchester United.

If he plays for the Three Lions for the first time in seven years, it will be the longest gap between England caps since Ian Walker (February 1997-June 2004).

Solanke is likely to join captain Harry Kane and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as one of three striker options for Carsley.

However, United defender Harry Maguire is set to miss out after losing his place in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI.

Ten Hag has preferred the centre back pairing of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez in recent weeks, despite United’s disappointing start to the season, and Maguire is expected to pay the price by missing out on Carsley’s latest squad.

Carsley is already developing a reputation for making bold calls after replacing Gareth Southgate at the helm.

He also axed Kyle Walker last month, showing he is not afraid to make bold calls

Last month, he handed Angel Gomes and Morgan Gibbs-White their senior debuts after working with them at Under 21 level, while he also axed experienced full back Kyle Walker.

This time he has turned to Solanke to freshen things up, while Maguire has been overlooked.
