Brad Gilbert has revealed that he is no longer working with US tennis sensation Coco Gauff.

The legendary coach – who has also worked with the likes of Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and Andy Murray – helped Gauff win her maiden Grand Slam at last year’s US Open.

They began working together in July 2023 but, on Wednesday, Gilbert confirmed the split on social media after a difficult few months for the 20-year-old.

‘Thanks to Coco Gauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort,’ he wrote.

‘Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead. I’m excited for the next chapter in my coaching career.’

Earlier this month, Gauff’s hopes of retaining her US Open title ended in the fourth round, when she was beaten by fellow American Emma Navarro.

Navarro also beat the 20-year-old in the fourth round of Wimbledon back in July. After that defeat, Gauff called out Gilbert and her team.

‘We had a game plan going in… I felt that it wasn’t working. I don’t always ask for advice on the box. Today was one of those rare moments where I felt I didn’t have solutions.

‘I don’t want to say I didn’t have any because I think I’m a capable player of coming up with some. I think today mentally there was a lot going on. I felt like I wanted more direction from the box.

‘It’s happened before,’ she added. ‘They usually give me something. I felt today I don’t think we were all in sync.’

Earlier in the summer, Gauff was reduced to tears after a heated exchange with the umpire at the French Open.  She broke down again after another argument as she crashed out of the Olympics in Paris.
