We’ve all been there – you finally pluck up the courage to go for a jog, only to find that your earphones fall out every five minutes.

But the days of constantly shoving your earphones back in are finally a thing of the past, thanks to Beats’ latest innovation.

The Apple-owned tech giant has unveiled the Powerbeats Pro 2, which it describes as the ‘ultimate fitness earphones’.

The £249.95 earphones feature an earhook and a choice of five tip sizes, ensuring the buds stay in whether you encounter rain, snow, or just a whole load of sweat.

What’s more, they feature built-in heart rate monitors, which track your pulse through your ears.

Ahead of their official launch, Beats sent MailOnline’s Shivali Best a pair of the Powerbeats Pro 2 to try out.

I’m currently training for the London Marathon in April and have been struggling to find a pair of headphones that are comfortable, have a decent battery life, and don’t slide out of my ears as I get progressively sweatier.

Thankfully, with just over two months to go, I think I’ve found what I’ve been looking for in the Powerbeats Pro 2.

As the name suggests, Powerbeats Pro 2 are the second generation of Powerbeats Pro, which were originally launched back in 2019.

Sports icon, LeBron James, was one of the first athletes to test the Powerbeats Pro 2, and described them as ‘incredible’.

‘I’ve been a huge fan of the Powerbeats line since it first launched, and seeing it evolve into the new Powerbeats Pro 2 is incredible,’ he said.

‘Music has always been a key motivator in my training, and these earphones take an already iconic product to the next level.’

Like their predecessor, the earphones feature an earhook, although this has been given an important upgrade.

This time, the hook has been reinforced with a nickel titanium alloy, which makes them 20 per cent lighter, and provides improved flexibility, grip, and comfort.

Users can choose between five tip sizes for the perfect fit, with options ranging from Extra Small through to Extra Large.

However, the biggest new feature is heart rate monitoring, which provides you with real-time data on your pulse.

Beats Powerbeats Pro 2

Price: £249.95

Colours: Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple and Electric Orange

Release date: 13 February

Battery: 45 hours of battery life with the charging case

Key features: Active Noise Cancellation (including Transparency Mode), heart rate monitoring, voice isolation

The earphones feature LED optical sensors, which pulse over 100 times per second to measure your blood flood.

As your exercise, this information can be relayed to various fitness apps in real-time.

At launch in the UK, this includes Open, Peloton, Runna, Slopes, Ladder, Nike Run Club, and YaoYao.

Japanese baseball star, Shohei Ohtani, one of the first athletes to test the Powerbeats Pro 2 out, said: ‘Tapping in to your heart is important whether you’re an athlete on the biggest stage or just getting started.’

One of the key features that was missing in the original Powerbeats Pro was active noise cancellation.

Thankfully, Beats has addressed this issue in the new device, with the choice of full noise cancellation or transparency mode.

If you’re the kind of person who likes taking calls while you workout, you’ll also be happy to hear that Beats has introduced improved connection and controls.

Each earbud is fitted with a voice accelerometer and three advanced microphones.

During calls, the earbuds use a combination of advanced computational audio and AI to activate Voice Isolation, which reduces background noise and isolates your voice - so the recipient is trying to hear you over the clanging and banging of the gym

In terms of battery life, the earphones deliver up to 45 hours of battery life with the charging case, with each bud delivering up to 10 hours of playback per charge.

And if your earphones do die, a quick five-minute charge will give you an impressive 90 minutes of playback.

Users can choose between four colours – Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple, or Electric Orange.

Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 go on sale on 13 February and are priced at £249.95.

MailOnline’s Shivali Best tries the Powerbeats Pro 2

Ahead of their official launch, Beats kindly sent me a pair of the Powerbeats Pro 2 to try out.

I opted for Hyper Purple, and it’s a stunning shade of lilac which is more than worthy of even the most carefully curated Instagram feed.

The earphones are super easy to set up – I simply opened the case, and within seconds my iPhone 16 Pro detected them and asked if I’d like to pair.

The choice of tip sizes is excellent, with options ranging from XS through to XL.

I debated between small or medium, but eventually settled on the small, which seemed to fit in my ears nicely.

Having chosen a particularly soggy Saturday to take them their for their maiden run, I was initially sceptical.

However, within a few miles, the worry of them falling out had completely vanished and I was able to get into my stride.

The earhook is very comfortable, and provides just enough support without irritating your ear, or feeling too cumbersome.

The sound quality is excellent and I really enjoyed having the option to toggle active noise cancellation off when I reached an area with busy traffic.

While they’re not the cheapest fitness earphones on the market, they’re undeniably the best ones I’ve tried in terms of sound quality and comfort.

So, whether you’re running the London Marathon like me, or just easing in to your fitness journey, I couldn’t recommend the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 more.
