Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychkova is the second professional dancer to be hit with an injury after being involved in an accident during training.

Bychkova was the first pro-dancer to be booted from the competition alongside her celebrity partner and Olympian Tom Dean.

The Ukrainian dancer was left devastated to be out of the competition so early but has remained on the show for the professional group dancers each week.

However, the star seems to have been hit by the show’s injury curse this year as a source revealed she broke a bone during rehearsals.

According to The Sun, the dancer fell and landed on her hand during rehearsals on Wednesday, being treated by on-site medics.

An X-ray revealed a break, and she was told to rest up, however, the devoted star will appear in Claudia Winkleman’s area on Saturday night and was cleared to continue recording.

A source claimed:Nadiya was training with the other pros when she fell. Her thumb basically snapped and it looked incredibly painful.

“Everyone crowded around her. Nadiya’s thumb was badly swollen and bruised, but she didn’t want to let anyone down and is adamant she could do the pre-recorded number.

“A doctor eventually cleared her and she’ll be able to film, but might be treated with kid gloves by fellow pros.

“Nadiya will be there on Saturday for the live show, too — she’s adamant the show must quite literally go on.”

Bychkova’s injury comes off the back of Amy Dowden having to miss this weekend’s show due to falling ill before recording the results show on Saturday night.

Her spokesman at the time said: “Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution.

“She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.”

The BBC dance competition later issued a statement on the official Instagram page, where they announced that Lauren Oakley will perform with JB Gill this weekend.

Gill recently spoke with OJ Borg on BBC Radio 2 about how he feels about Dowden’s absence and explained: “We’ve been able to build an incredible rapport over the last six /seven weeks.

“And it’s been great going to the training room with her and working on the new routine. You know, for me, learning different styles – whether it’s a Ballroom style or a new Latin style.

“And then watching that process sort of, as it builds, into the show that we put on, on the Saturday night.

“So, to not have her in rehearsals this week has been a bit surreal. But you know, the best thing […] is that she’s taken some time to get better. We’re obviously wishing her all the best as she recovers.”
