Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has been married to his wife Patricia for 16 years, but there was once a time when she stormed off from him during a live TV show. The comedian, who is Strictly’s first blind contestant, is currently teamed up with pro dancer Dianne Buswell for the 2024 series.

Last year, Chris was left red faced after sharing the screen with his wife on David Mitchell’s show Outsiders. In a heated discussion about their relationship on the show, which also featured celebrities Judi Love and Alan Davies, Patricia stormed off the set in a fit of frustration.

During a segment where Alan Davies asked the pair to rate the state of their marriage out of ten, Patricia nonchalantly responded: “I’ll go for a good, solid nine and a half. And that’s not to say I don’t feel like it’s a ten. I just feel there’s always room for improvement, because we’ve got that winning mentality and that’s why we’re here.”

However, when the Strictly contestant questioned her score asking, “You’d go nine and a half? ” Patricia retorted with growing annoyance, “All right. I know, okay, what do you want then? Go on, you tell him then. Go on, we’re here to be honest, you tell him.”

Her rising irritation then resulted in her sudden departure as she declared, “All right. You know what. There you go. Yeah, see you later,” reports Wales Online.

Chris and Patricia, away from the limelight, enjoy a blissful marriage. In a chat with Disability Horizons, Chris recalled how they first crossed paths: “My wife used to work in TV and we met very early on in my career when she was involved in making a programme about the Edinburgh Festival,” he fondly remembered.

“We’ve been together for 16 years now and got married in 2012 after I’d proposed during a Pearl Jam concert at Hyde Park rock and roll,” revealed the couple who live in London with their daughter Sophie.

The 47 year old has previously admitted that he had never watched Strictly before and had “no burning desire” to participate. However, his determination to not let his blindness hinder him led him to join the sequined spectacle for the 20th-anniversary series.
