Gorka Marquez was told ‘not now’ as he started asking questions just moments before going live on Strictly Come Dancing. The dancer is taking part in the BBC One dance contest this year with Dr Punam Krishan.

The pair are currently in training for week three of this year’s competition on Saturday (October 5), which just so happens to be the Movie Week special.

It’s been revealed that Dr Punam and Gorka will be part of a ‘first’ for the hit dance show, during its 20th anniversary year. They’ll be performing a Couple’s Choice Bollywood number to Bole Chudiyan from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

But when they appeared on It Takes Two on Thursday (October 3), Janette Manrara couldn’t help but quiz Dr Punam and Gorka on their last performance in the ballroom – or more specifically the Spanish dancer’s outfit.

For their second performance of the 2024 series, Dr Punam performed a foxtrot to Shania Twain’s hit Man! I Feel Like A Woman! with her partner Gorka, who was clad in a black see-through top and black PVC trousers, which earned them a score of 18 out of a possible 40 points.

“They were very tight,” Gorka said of his trousers on the night, likening them to the tightness of a ‘nail in a submarine’ while conversing in Spanish with Janette. “He struggled to get them on and off, didn’t you,” Morning Live’s Dr Punam then commented.

“Yeah, I had to have talc… You know chafing? A lot of that,” Gorka replied, before quipping he was ‘like the guy in Friends’ – a reference to the moment the character of Ross Geller, played by actor David Schwimmer, wears leather trousers on a date before getting too hot and unable to put his trousers back on following a trip to the bathroom.

Dr Punam then revealed: “We were just about to go on for the announcement of couples, and he was like ‘What do I put on, do I put on powder, do I put on cream? Do i put on Sudocrem?’. I was like, ‘Not now, Gorka!'”

But Gorka insisted the questions were well-intentioned thanks to Dr Punam’s line of work. “Doctor! I was in good hands,” she commented before Dr Krishan jokingly added, recalling another question: “‘What will make me chafe the least?’ Just dance will you!”
