Silent Witness continued on Monday, with Dr Nikki Alexander (played by Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) fronting the latest investigation.
However, just minutes into the gripping episode, fans were left complaining over the quality of the filming, with many unable to properly see what was going on. Many ended up pleading for one of the characters to “turn the lights on”.
The episode started by showing the brutal murder of an estate agent, with the man visiting one of his new-build properties before his attack.
The next scenes involved the forensic teams arriving at the gruesome find, but fans quickly pointed out that nobody bothered to turn on any lights, making the shots hard to follow.
While some noted the episode had been a little too gory for their liking, many complained about why the scenes had taken place in pitch black darkness.
Taking to X, one asked: “Why is silent witness filmed predominantly in the dark? Switch the bl**** lights on!”

Someone else repeated: “Why don’t they put the lights on instead of using the torches? #silentwitness.”

Meanwhile, another critiqued: “This is a tad gory tonight #SilentWitness,” while another shared: “Lots of blood #SilentWitness.”
Despite the complaints, others enjoyed the episode, with one fans posting: “Another cracking episode this week #silentwitness.” (sic)
The instalment was the first of a two-parter called Homecoming, so the murder wasn’t solved by the time the credits rolled, and several loose ends were yet to be tied up.
A BBC synopsis for the episode read: “When a man is found bludgeoned by a hammer, the Lyell are drawn deep into a conspiracy involving local government.”
Unfortunately for the drama, it comes as the second time in a row fans have struggled to watch.
Last week, a harrowing storyline left viewers “traumatised” as an elderly character was killed off in shocking scenes.

It kicked off with elderly gentleman Benjamin (David Hargreaves) desperately searching for his friend, Gloria.
The confused man sadly became the target of a con artist who attempted to take his life in heart-wrenching scenes. However, Benjamin ended up killing the cruel criminal.
He then went on to attack a couple that had been living in Gloria’s house, with no idea his beloved friend had sadly been killed.
Not all fans felt the disturbing plot was necessary, with some admitting they “can’t watch”.
