Beyond Paradise aired its series two finale on Friday, and the twist-filled episode sparked a mixed reaction from fans.
The Death in Paradise spin-off concluded its second season, which was meant to see Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) tie the knot, but the much-anticipated wedding didn’t end up happening.
Those tuned in were looking forward to see the will-they-won’t-they couple make it official at last, but the sudden change of heart left some disappointed.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: “Canceling everything is OTT & sort of ruining it too #BeyondParadise.”
“Mood tonight after no wedding,” another shared along with a disappointed emoji and a jokey clip expressing their disappointment.
“I wanted to see the wedding, the speeches, first dance, and vows i feel betrayed, beyond betrayed #BeyondParadise,” a third complained.

Someone else fumed: “YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME ?!?!? No wedding #beyondparadise.”
However, some were still happy wirth the way the series wrapped up. One person shared: “Oh well, not a wedding, still a nice way to end the series, with the watch crew family #BeyondParadise.”
“We may not have had the wedding we hoped for but I still somehow got emotional #BeyondParadise,” another remarked. (sic)

Following the finale, the BBC announced there would be another series of the spin-off.
Tim Key, executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, stated: “The response to series two has been fantastic.
“So much love goes into the making of the show and we’re delighted that the audience have enjoyed it so much.
“We can’t wait to get back to Shipton Abbott for another Christmas special and series to continue the story and learn more about our characters and the town they live in — I can promise that we’ll be making the viewers laugh, cry, laugh a bit more and then baffling them with a series of ingenious puzzles.”

While the series launched off the back off Death in Paradise, which started back in 2011, leading man Marshall recently confirmed there wouldn’t be a cross-over.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Marshall noted that a cross-over with both casts at the Saint Marie island was “not [something that would happen] in the immediate future, I don’t think, but it’s definitely something to be considered in the future.
“I would absolutely love for certain characters to come and see us at Shipton Abbot. Specifically, someone like Don’s [Warrington] character.”
